What the separation gives you
Upload a song and get two files back: the voice on its own, and everything else without it.
The vocal track contains lead and harmony voices; the accompaniment keeps drums, bass and every other instrument. Because both come from the same source, they line up sample for sample when you put them back together.
Results depend on the mix. Dry, centred vocals separate very cleanly. Heavy reverb, doubled lines and distorted voices leave more residue, which is normal for any separation method.
Vocal removal is the most common first step on the bench. A singer wants a backing track, a producer wants an acapella, a transcriber wants to hear the melody without the band on top of it.

Tips for cleaner splits
Avoid already-compressed copies
Files that have been re-encoded several times lose detail the model relies on. Use the original export whenever possible.
Expect some reverb tails
Room and plate reverbs are shared between voice and band. Faint tails in the instrumental are normal and usually disappear in a mix.
Check the quiet sections
Artefacts are easiest to hear in sparse passages. Listen to intros and breakdowns before you commit to a take.
Vocal remover questions
What is the difference between this and the stem splitter?
The vocal remover produces two tracks: vocals and accompaniment. The stem splitter goes further and divides the accompaniment into separate instruments such as drums, bass and guitar.
Can I keep only the vocal?
Yes. Both tracks are provided, so you can download just the vocal as an acapella and ignore the instrumental.
Does it work on live recordings?
It can, but crowd noise and room sound are mixed into both sides. Studio recordings give noticeably cleaner results.
Can I use the separated vocal commercially?
Only if you own the recording or have permission from the rights holders. Separation does not change who owns the performance.
